Wonderful workmanship; just know that it's SMALL.

| Like all the Haba toys, the workmanship and quality are outstanding. The pretzels come in an adorable little tin, which is easy for my 19-month-old to open. He loves the pretzels and has a great time playing with them in his new play kitchen. He is well below the suggested age for these (3 years), so we make sure he's supervised--he seems to be doing OK with them, though he probably could get the tin lid in his mouth all the way if he tried. It's hard to tell scale on this Haba stuff online, so I'll tell you that the little wooden pretzels are about the same size as the smallest type of stick pretzels you can get at the grocery store. |
Pick Up Sticks!

I love the tin these skinny little brown sticks (aka pretzels) come in, and in fact keep buying these ridiculously small Haba foods because I find the tins to be so appealing as to forgive the unfortunate inconsistency of the food sizes. Peas are the size of marbles, apples the size of a cherry tomato. However, these little pretzels are actually an exception to that statement. They're an accurate size in relation to most other higher end wooden play foods on the market (Plan Toys, Hape, Estia), if not in relation to other Haba foods.
They're a little on the skinny side, and I wish they'd sacrificed the rather large quantity of them for a slightly larger diameter. They remind me of miniature pick up sticks, with a lovely brown satin finish, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing. I could see these being incorporated into all sorts of imaginitive play, and thus their general lack of identifying detail could be seen as a plus.
Considering that I got these at 50% off the listed price, I'd certainly buy them again and recommend them to anyone who could find them at a decent discount. |
